In Memoriam: Michael Good, DVM

With sadness we announce that Dr. Michael Good, one of our HSVMA Georgia State Co-Representatives, passed away suddenly in late June, 2021.

Dr. Good was one of our members, and, since 2019, he was also an HSVMA GA State Co-Rep.  He was the owner of Town and Country Veterinary Clinic in Marietta, Georgia.  For more than 40 years he practiced veterinary medicine while working tirelessly to find loving adoptive homes for pets in need.  Remembrances of his kindness to both animals—and their humans—recently filled the clinic’s Facebook page.

Dr. Good was also honored by the HSUS Puppy Mill campaign for working to help eliminate large-scale commercial breeding facilities which often maintain inhumane operating conditions, including lack of adequate veterinary care for both the breeding dogs and their offspring.

Dr. Good believed that early humane education was the key to building a more humane future for animals.  In that spirit he founded the Homeless Pet Clubs of America, a free, fun and effective way for youth of all ages to help homeless pets in their local communities.

You can see and listen to Dr. Good in his own words in this inspiring short video. Donations to support Dr. Good’s legacy can be made through the non-profit foundation he established in 1998: The Homeless Pets Foundation, 1343 Gresham Road, Marietta, GA 30062.
